Score a beauty blender in less than 100 bucks!
I’m always in search for a good bargain. Whether in clothes, bags, shoes or groceries. Good bargain meaning good quality that is at par with branded stuff but at an affordable price.
This also includes some makeup tools, don’t get me wrong, as a professional makeup artist I do invest in branded makeup for my clients. But for some of my tools like the beauty blender which I have to change regularly I try to look for a good deal. And I’ve tried quite a few and here are some of it.
I was able to try Swan’s beauty blender back in 2014 which is priced around Php120 back then. They have repriced it now to 99.75. It didn’t expand and had big pores. But at least it did retain it’s shape.
Here’s another type of sponge that i purchased. It expands and has fine pores but it’s sort of malleable when you squeeze out the water.
I have another one from Miniso. It was a steal at 100 pesos for 2 beauty blenders but just like the previous one it doesn’t retain it’s shape what’s worse is it got broken just after the 2nd wash.
After trying quite a number of beauty blenders, i have devised 3 criterias in looking for a beauty blender.
1. size 2. Texture 3. Shape
The 1st thing i look for in a beauty blender is the size it should swell when wet. Here’s a side by side photo of the dry and wet sponge. As you can see the wet sponge significantly expanded in size.
Texture it should have very fine pores. For it to be able to give me a smooth airbrush finish. It should have a smooth texture.
Shape it should retain it’s original shape when wet. It should not be malleable.
Now, the question is where to buy a beauty blender with all the 3 criterias at less than 100 pesos?
To be exact this beauty blender is only 88 pesos. I bet you already know where i got this. Yes, you’re right. It’s Daiso!
Diaso’s beauty blender passed all my criterias and I’m very happy with it. The only downside is it’s really dense and could be a pain to clean because it’s hard to squeeze. Specially since i have small hands. Hence, I use both of my hands to squeeze it and it gets easier every time.
Pro tip: Hoard as much as you can because it can go out of stock for months.
Have you tried the Daiso beauty blender? How did it work for you?
